Before we share our Chocolate Almond Fudge Bites recipe, have you ever heard of brigadeiro? This strange word is from the Portuguese language and originated in Brazil. As your Once Again Recipe Developer, you’ve seen little bits of me come through occasionally in my blogs and recipes. So here comes the connection between that interesting word and me. I grew up in South America, more precisely in Brazil, where every birthday party has cake and brigadeiro. They are something I haven’t encountered in any other culture, yet it closely resembles treats from different countries. The closest thing to brigadeiro in our American culture is likely chocolate fudge. It resembles that treat in taste and texture; however, brigadeiros add condensed milk, cocoa powder, and a lot of sugar. As you can surmise, not the healthiest concoction out there.

As luck would have it, while playing with ingredients, I created these Amoré Fudge Bites, and after just one bite, it took me back to my childhood birthday parties with cousins and friends all lined up behind the party table waiting for our turn to get a piece of cake!

The ingredients aren’t similar , the greatest commonality between these is their round shape, yet somehow, they taste very close to . However, they have a round shape in common, and they taste very much like the originals, in my opinion.

I hope some of you have already tasted the original brigadeiro and are intrigued enough to try this recipe. So please, let me know what you think!

It is hard to comprehend how such decadent treats could have nutrient value, but indeed they do. The addition of flax seeds and rolled oats set them apart from junk-laden treats. They are no longer a guilty pleasure but a treat with benefits. Try this recipe for Chocolate Almond Fudge Bites today!
