Almond-Ginger-Pear Smoothie
Pears are an excellent source of dietary fiber. In fact, one medium pear contains close to 25% of the recommended daily intake of fiber for adult women. Adequate fiber intake is essential for optimal health. Fiber helps slow digestion and the absorption of sugars, which in turn helps regulate blood sugar levels. Fiber also helps lower total cholesterol levels by lowering LDL, or “bad,” cholesterol. Fiber can promote bowel health and may even reduce the risk of certain cancers.
