Have you recently opened a jar of our Once Again Tahini to make some hummus, and now you’re not quite sure what to do with the rest? We’re ready to help! There are several magnificent ways to enjoy tahini; however, if you’re not sure you can use it all within a month or so, freeze it. Tahini can be frozen and will be safe to consume for up to six to eight months. Always check your tahini to ensure it is safe for consumption. Rancid tahini has a foul smell and taste that is easy to recognize. You would likely not consume it due to the smell. But you can also make Maple Tahini Granola!

We are convinced you’ll never experience rancid tahini due to the many ways possible to enjoy it, so much so that you may be ready to restock your pantry with more Once Again Tahini. Our Maple Tahini Granola is an easy option, to begin with. Differing from store-bought granola, this recipe produces a granola very low in sugar, comparatively. Moreover, it is filled with fiber and healthy fats. The tahini in this granola offers a subtle sweetness with a nutty flavor perfectly paired with maple syrup. We’d be amiss if we didn’t give credit to the other superstar on this recipe, the walnuts. Did you know they have higher antioxidant activity than any other nut? This is due to their high levels of vitamin E, melatonin and polyphenols. This makes them particularly powerful in fighting oxidative damage caused by LDL cholesterol. Combine the powers of walnuts, with the fiber richness of oats, the vitamin A found in cinnamon, the omegas in flax seeds, and the calcium, phosphorous, magnesium, and iron found in tahini. The end result is a nutrient-dense granola that can feed the whole family.

To elevate this granola to a gourmet status, you can add a few extra ingredients such as dried cranberries, raisins, dark chocolate chips, coconut chips, or cacao nibs. Maple Tahini Granola

Homemade granola made with our Tahini and Maple.

  • ½ cup maple syrup
  • ½ cup of Once Again Tahini
  • 2 cups of rolled oats
  • 2 cups of brown rice cereal
  • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons of flax seeds
  • ½ cup of chopped walnuts


  1. In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients and set aside. In a small saucepan, mix maple syrup and tahini over medium-low heat for only about five minutes.
  2. Immediately pour this over dry mixture and mix well.
  3. Spread mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and place in an oven preheated to 300 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes.
  4. Half-way through baking, stir the mixture for even results. Let it cool before breaking it off into pieces; store granola in an airtight jar for up to seven days.
