Allergens & Testing

We manufacture almonds, cashews, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, and soy products at the main facility of Once Again Nut Butter. We have dedicated equipment, and areas to segregate these commodities as much as possible, but there is still a possibility of cross-contamination. Therefore, we suggest that it is better to be safe than sorry when it comes to allergens. We now have a dedicated peanut facility that produces only peanut products and is segregated from the main facility. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask. Certified Gluten-Free Nut Butter & Vegan Peanut Butter Products

At OANB, we’re proud to offer a wide selection of gluten-free peanut butter, vegan peanut butter, and other nut butter products. Since 2014, we’ve worked hard to ensure that our products can be enjoyed by those with Celiac Disease or are otherwise gluten-intolerant. All of our products are certified gluten-free by Celiac Sprue, which recognizes that they do not contain wheat, barley, rye, or common oats, and are manufactured to meet the standards of the National Celiac Association.

In addition, we’ve received certifications as providers of vegan peanut butter and vegan nut butter as we strive to ensure that no animal testing or animal derivatives are used in the growing or manufacturing of our nut and seed products.

Aflatoxin Testing

Aflatoxin is a chemical created by mold. Some molds are beneficial; such as penicillin. Some molds make food have a wonderful taste such as cheese; some molds can be dangerous i.e. the aflatoxin mold. Cooking does not destroy aflatoxin. Aflatoxin can occur in peanuts, nuts, dried fruit, corn, and other grains. Only peanuts are tested multiple times by the USDA. Samples are drawn and tested by the USDA at harvest and again after shelling. Peanuts and peanut butter are perhaps the safest of foods to consume if you are concerned about aflatoxin. We make sure that all of our peanuts are tested for aflatoxin before we purchase them. But we don’t just rely on that data alone; we also test our peanut butter for aflatoxin after it is produced. Our almonds and cashews are also tested twice for aflatoxin.

Pathogen Testing

SQF Certification

Safe Quality Foods (SQF) 2000 Level 3 Certification. Level 3 Certification is the highest Safe Quality Foods Qualification that can be attained.

Safe Quality Foods is one of the most effective food safety management systems. The SQF Program is a leading global food safety and quality certification and management system. The Program provides independent certification that Once Again Nut Butter’s food safety and quality management system complies with international and domestic food safety regulations. On April 23, 2010: Once Again Nut Butter was awarded the Safe Quality Foods (SQF) 2000 Level 3 Certification.

This program is Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) based, meaning that our critical control points are being verified by inspection and documentation. Assisting documents include: chemical control, equipment calibration, good manufacturing practices, carrier inspections of incoming and outbound trailers and environmental monitoring etcetera. All are held to the highest standards. One of the highlights of Once Again Nut Butter is our testing protocols. We test all incoming raw ingredients to ensure quality, and we test all finished products. We engage in statistical sampling to ensure product safety. Finished products are not released to the public until full analyses are completed. Food retailers and manufacturers seek suppliers who are SQF Certified because of the increased brand protection, consumer confidence and loyalty.
